FAQ

How do I make an appointment?

The most efficient way to make an appointment is to head over to our Hair Artists/Services tab and decide which of our hairstylists would best suit your needs. You will see that every stylist will have information on their skillset and how their preferred method of contact.

If you're still unsure which stylist to schedule with, please fill our New Client Intake Form and we will find the perfect match for you!

You are also welcome to call or text us at (505) 226 - 7945.

Do you offer consultations?

Yes we do! Each of our stylists offer consultations at their own rates and booking platforms. If you want to book a consultation with a specific stylist, head over to our booking tab. If you do not have a specific stylist in mind, please fill out our New Client Intake Form.

Why aren't consultations free?

Our stylists at Libre have the freedom to choose their pricing for everything, including consultations. It's a common misconception that consultations are free, but the reality is that free consultations are only free for the client. In that 30 minutes to an hour long consultation, your stylist could be taking a paying service. In charging for consultations, this ensures new clients are committed to being serviced and that our stylists are being compensated for their time. There's no harm in shopping around for quotes/estimates, however with virtual communications such as texting, DMs and our New Client Intake Form, consultation appointments are becoming less necessary and are primarily used for strand testing or more in depth consulting that requires face to face communication.

I have sensory issues, can you accommodate me?

Yes! Even though Libre can get pretty noisy like most salons, our stylists are more than willing to schedule you during off times when we're not as busy. Please let your stylist know this during scheduling. Not only will the space be nice and quiet for you, but we can dim the lights, lower or turn off the music etc. whatever you need to feel comfortable.

What is a silent appointment?

Silent appointments are appointments without the small-talk and nonstop conversations. This accommodation is perfect if you're shy, socially anxious, or you simply just don't feel like talking and would rather scroll social media, listen to a podcast, read a book, or watch a show while getting your hair done.

Obviously, your stylist will still communicate with you for necessary reasons such as the initial consultation at the beginning of your appointment, feedback on your haircut/color placement etc.

Life can be be busy and overbearing. Sometimes, the salon is the only place you get to wind down and spend some quality time with yourself.

To request a Silent Appointment, fill out our New Client Form or let your stylist know in advance. And no, we will not be offended if you request a silent appointment. We also enjoy a little break from talking for hours.

Do you accept tips? How much is considered a good tip?

Every stylist at Libre has the freedom to accept or not accept tips if they choose. Their hair artist profile will indicate if they do or not.

If your stylist does accept tips, know it's not a requirement. Our stylists are in charge of their own pricing and do not necessarily rely on gratuity, but it is a nice little token of appreciation for their hard work. In other words, any amount is appreciated! *Only cash or app payments are accepted for tips. App payment options vary by stylist.*

Many hairstylists these days don't accept gratuity because they believe they're already charging for the full value for their work and/or they simply don't want their clients to feel pressured in the slightest to tip. If your stylist does not accept tips or if they do and you are unable to give them a cash tip, here are some great ways to show your appreciation for their hard work:

Coffee

Lunch (for those long appointments)

How does hourly pricing work?

Same as any other skilled tradesman that charges hourly, like tattoo artists, plumbers, electricians etc. Your stylist's hourly rate is determined by their skillset, the supplies and resources needed in order to offer the services they provide and of course, the value of their time and knowledge.

Is it true that stylists with hourly pricing work slower on purpose?

For our stylists, this is FALSE. Especially when dealing with chemicals. Absolutely none of us would work slower, risking the integrity of our clients' hair for a few more dollars. Also, working slower or faster than your normal pace is just plain uncomfortable.

The humans that work at Libre did not get into this industry for money. Obviously, getting paid for your job is everyone's goal in the workforce. However, many hairstylists have to work very hard for little to no money in the beginning of their careers to hone their skills. Our stylists have earned the rates they charge and are very open to working with a budget, referring to another coworker or even another salon if cost is a concern.
